Board Member

James K. Ellis serves as a Senior Manager Financial Institutions and Products of the Large Business and International Division of IRS, heading a team of six Financial Products Managers and 65 Specialists and management assistants in Houston, Dallas, Chicago, Seattle, Los Angeles, Columbus, OH and Plantation, FL.  He was hired as a Revenue Agent in Houston, Texas and has been with the IRS for more than 40 years.  He has held a series of increasingly responsible positions, including Group Manager, Financial Products Manager, Chief of Quality Measurement, Chief of Planning and Special Programs, Examination Branch Chief of Technical Assistant and Program Coordination (TAPC), Acting Assistant Chief of the Houston District Examination Division, Executive Assistant to Industry Director, and Territory Manager. James is a graduate of Prairie View A&M University where he received a BBA in accounting.  He instructs IRS tax practitioner classes with the Texas A&M’s Tax Practitioner Workshops.  He is President of the Board of Directors for the Donald R. Watkins Memorial Foundation, one of the largest non-profit HIV-AIDS organizations.  James served as advisor to the USCCB on Racism and served as a member of the National Black Catholic Congress Board of Directors.  James is currently the Past Supreme Knight of the Knights of Peter Claver, Inc, the largest African American Lay Organization in the Catholic Church.
